Rug hooking is a very old art form. Hooked rugs were originally made for the bed during the pioneer days before modern day heating. These sturdy hooked rugs can be used on the floor but if your hooked rug gets dirty be sure not to clean the rug with chemicals. The chemicals will break down the rug hooking wools and yarn. Because many of the rug hooking wools are hand dyed they may not be colorfast to cleaning chemical. Take your rug outside on a snowy day and rub it face down in the snow then gently shake the rug out and lay it flat to dry. Then your hooked rug is ready to enjoy!

Punch Needle patterns are punched with a Device called a Punch Needle. A punch needle uses fine embroidery floss or thread, Thread your Punch needle with your punch needle threader. The punch needle threader should be included with your pre-packaged punch needle. The punch needle works very much like a sewing machine. You can purchase different sizes of punch needle depending on the type of thread or rug hooking yarn or wool you choose to use.
